nice review. i don't know what night you went (i'm guessing for the premiere), but i got the chance to go twice, and the music was very different saturday than wednesday. ashley's using ableton live to manipulate samples in real time â€” mostly prerecorded, but i got the impression saturday that he was able to take live samples, too, doubling sam ashley's monologue in a couple different registers, making it positively spooky at times. anyway, i guess i wouldn't say that the music is less important than the text, it just makes itself known in a very different way than usual.
